The Sky

The Sky is an empty room, until you look up. A new roof is over the old one: but where is the sky then?

The sky is further up, trapped between many wooden sticks spaced out enough to allow the light to pass through and close enough to hide what is beyond. We stay still with our achy neck, looking up, looking at the wrinkled wood, at the rhythm of the sticks and at those annoying light beams. But when we look down we can be surprised by something new: the light decorations are dancing everywhere. It's more comfortable to look at the walls and at the Floor, where the light has projected its drawings: maybe we can eventually settle for much less, maybe the sky is too much for us.

The work was shown in Cairo in the year 2000 (Al Nitaq Festival 2000 and personal exhibition in Townhouse Gallery 2000) and in Milano in the year 2001 (Studio Casoli).
